Dr. Flavio Lorenzelli received a Laurea and a Doctorate degree from Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 1986 and 1991, and an MS and PhD degree in electrical engineering from UCLA in 1990 and 1993, respectively. He spent two years at CSELT Telecommunications Lab in Torino, Italy between 1987 and 1989. Between 1996 and 2007 he was with STMicroelectronics, Inc. His last appointment in STM was as manager of the US Research and Innovation team, in the Advanced System Technology division of STMicroelectronics as well as researcher-in-residence at UCLA. He was also editor of the STMicroelectronics Journal of Research. Between 1995 and 2012, he has taught many courses at UCLA and the University of Milan, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, in the areas of computer architecture, digital communications, linear filter theory, detection and estimation, array processing, etc. Since June 2007 he has been in the Communication Systems Engineering Department of The Aerospace Corporation. His areas of expertise are digital signal processing and telecommunications. He is a senior member of IEEE, and was recipient of a Fulbright fellowship between 1989 and 1996.
